    The term "interdimensional" is perhaps not correct. Normally when we speak about space-time we are talking about the 3 dimensions of space(ie length, width, height) and time which is alternatively called either the 4th dimension or the "zero-th" dimension. To have a portal that permitted travel between the 3 dimensions of space is not really different than a normal door, window or sunroof, so the only other form of dimensional travel that would be worth mentioning would be time travel.

    Several theories about how to travel in time have been suggested;

    On the other hand if you are really talking about travel to alternate universes then these links may help you;

    If inter-dimensional portals exist, they'd probably be in 3d not 2d, so not a flat doorway of sorts. It'd be a place where the difference between the two worlds is "hazy". In these kinds of places various aspects of the two connected timelines/realities would mesh and conflict, causing anomalies like wild shifts in temperature or gravity.

    Dimension isn't the proper term for this. They'd be called multiversal portals/wormholes.
