Should USA return southwest states to Mexico?
The west states belonged to Mexican Republic and its native people before that for ages. It is a fact that American forces invaded and conquered northern Mexico and captured Mexico City, forcing Mexican officials to agree to the surrender of its northern territories to the U.S.
Racial animosity towards Mexicans has increased in our country. Would even an annexation of the Southwest US from Republic of Texas/United States be the resolution to the immigration issue?

Mexico declared their independence from Spanish conquest in 1821. All the land that was once claimed by the Spanish had been released back to its native people. The Mexican Republic now ruled the northern mexican territories which include modern california, utah, oklahoma, etc. Its not that Mexico "owned" the land as claimed, but it was returned to them for 25 years until another batch of conquistadors came to claim territory. Mexicans are the indians, descendents who lived in this land before Manifest Destiny.
Texas had declared their independence from Mexico in 1836, way before the Mexican-American War began. Declarations of Independence written by immigrants who moved to mexican territory.
Territory stretching all the way to California was seized by US Govt in 1846 immediately after the war. It was official US territory in 1848, sold for pesos on the dollar.
It would be impossible to return the land to Mexican republic, that is just a really stupid sarcastic question. The issue is Racism and Intolerance exist in the US of America. One would think modern humans would have evolved beyond that.

You seem to have everything abit backwards.
First off, Mexico only owned the Southwestern states for 25 years, before that they were owned by Spain and before that they were owned by native americans, and that does not mean those of Mayan or Aztec descent.
Secondly, Why would we return somehting we have owned for over 160 years? Both California and Texas rebelled from Mexico and became independant nations then joined the U.S. The rest of them were won in a war against Mexico in which the US forgave all Mexican debt and paid $15 million for them. Then you have the gadsden purchase. So why would would give mexico anything?
They never had a right to it in the first place....
*edit* oh and btw it's not a fact that american forces invaded mexico, Mexican forces invaded Texas and the US intervened to help their buddies...

How uneducated can people be. The mexicans come in, invaded, spread diseases, killed and raped the original inhabitants and took their land. So It was not the property of mexico that these thieves stole in the first place. The only racism I see growing is from the mexicans themselves. Just send the illegal mexicans back to their own country they have made a mess of and pick up a book and educate yourself.
Geronimo was born in 1829, his name at birth was Goyathlay (One Who Yawns), in what is now Clifton, Arizona. His father died at an early age and the young Goyathlay took on the responsibility of taking care of his mother. At the age of 17, he was admitted to the Council of the Warriors. He then married Alope and had three children. In 1858 while trading in a Mexican village called Kas-Ki-Yeh, the Mexican army attacked the village killing the warriors left behind and most of the women and children, among the dead were Goyathlay's mother, his wife , and his children. A year later the Apache tribes converged on the Mexican army and extracted revenge for the massacre. Goyathlay was allowed the honor of leading the attack because of the great loss he had suffered at the hands of the Mexicans. Many years of fighting with the Mexican army followed. The War with the Mexican army ended in 1883.

Texas was a part of Mexico and fought a civil war to become an independent nation, it had nothing to do with the USA. Texas later joined the USA. As far as the rest of the southwest, Santa Ana SOLD, and I repeat for those of you who don't bother to read history before you spew your liberal nonsense, SOLD the land to the USA to finance his other wars. Did I mention that Mexico SOLD the southwest? Meaning we PAID for the land? *History, the non-liberal revised version, is your friend. Read it and stop whining beaners.

The U.S. will return the lands to Mexico if Mexico promises to return the lands to Spain, and then Spain agrees to return the lands to the Indians, and those Indians return the lands to the previous owners who were other Indians.
It gets complicated when you talk about the rights to lands that have changed hands by force many times over hundreds of years.

You are a fool!
Stop listening to La Raza and Mecha Propaganda!
California and Texas were independent BEFORE they joined the U.S.!
The other states were only part of Mexico for 20 years!
They were PURCHASED by the U.S. from Mexico after the war MEXICO STARTED!

Let us say that two classmates were leaving school. Then one of the classmates robs the other of half of all his possessions. Then after many, many years one prospers and the other almost fails life due to the robbing. It is the correct idea for classmate 1# to return ALL stolen goods to the classmate who did nothing wrong. This is morally correct and anybody who is not bias would agree. To return stolen goods is correct.

The international border was settled a very long time ago. No one alive today remembers when the border was different. There is no reason to change it just for the sake of changing it or to solve a problem where many other remedies exist. Additionally, doing so would make many white Americans who speak no Spanish and live as US citizens into Mexican residents. Changing the border would not be fair to them.

Then in 20 years I can tell Mexico to give me back those southern states cause they used to be mine.
By the way Im sure they would still be running for the Oregon borders.

So should we return them to Mexico or the Native Americans?
