French pronunciation question: Do you pronounce the letter s in the word "pas" when followed by a vowel?

In most French words ending in "s", such as "suis", you don't pronounce the s unless it is followed by a vowel, such as "Je suis allé".

I've noticed the s in pas being ignored in all situations, am I correct?
Update: Some of you people answering my question know less French than me! I know for a fact that you DO pronounce the "s" in Je suis alle.
Update 2: Yes, Americo G, you're right; it's not an actual S sound, but the Z sound. Thanks for bringing that up.
