Our new covered porch is now home for the squirrels?

When we do, we hear them scratching, like they're trapped inside. Or scratching back to get in because they have nuts stored inside our roof.

So, we start all over again, nail a board then take it out. The last time we did that, we found a hole from the inside, it had been chewed. He's stuck inside and wanted out!

So we opened the board again. We can't shoot water inside the roof, because there's insulation on the end of our house, where they tore part of the roof, to add a new roof.

What else could we do? Barb wiring the two opening holes IS NOT the answer.

We try to get a trap, but there was none big enough to fit the opening.

Any suggestion? We don't know if there's one there now, but for over a month, we're tired of blocking/unblocking the two holes where they've been going in/out.
Update: There was NO TRAP big enough to fit the opening.

We have to return one, because it was too big. The next size was a mouse trap but it was too small.
