You're child may be made fun of if you name him Noel. Maybe, you could wait to see if you have a daughter. If you cannot wait that long, maybe name that as his middle name. Like,

    Peter Noel 'Smith'

Saying Peter would be a name you like, or Smith would be your last name.

Really common name for boys in Ireland, and almost every one of them is Christmas day baby!!

I'm too bothered about it to be honest, it's so common i'm sick of it

    EDIT:

to all the people saying it's a girls name - NOELLE is the female version (no-elle)

This is a very common boys name in Ireland pronounced "Nole", like Mole with an N

I think it is a lovely name and you don't have to be religious to call your son that. You have the right to call your son whatever you want! Would it have two little dots over the 'e' or not? x

I don't like it on a boy or a girl.

I know a guy with that name, but it's pronounced "Nole".

My favourite boys name of all-time is Joel. Pronounced Jole, not joh-ELL.

I think my son is going to ridicule him mercilessly for having a girly name.

it's unique, but i associate it with a girl. your child might be teased :/

but i also understand if you really like the name, maybe use it as a middle name.

or maybe something similiar, like noah.
