Any pharmaceutical company that DEVELOPS medication must do animal testing. For a drug to be approved by organizations like The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Heath Canada/Santé Canada, The European Medicines Agency, and The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority (Medsafe), drug testing must be preformed and that includes animal testing. Unlike cosmetics companies, some of which do NOT do animal testing, pharmaceutical developers must do animal testing for a drug to be approved.

Here is a list of the major pharmaceutical companies:

    Johnson & Johnson

    Pfizer

    Novartis

    Sanofi-Aventis

    Hoffmann–La Roche

    GlaxoSmithKline
