What is the name and author of this book?

Im looking for a book that is a part of a series. i was with a friend at a store and she pointed out a book that she really enjoyed reading. her birthday is coming up soon and i remember her saying how badly she wanted to read the next book in the series. i dont know the name or author, i tried to remember but it was some time ago. a description of the book is the best i can do for now.

the book is majority red, with a large red dragon head illustration on the front. i know thats not very helpful but the cover was very basic... its a male author. i know the second book looks similar but with a green dragon instead. if you can some how magically identify this book i would be at your debt

Update:

Unfortunately... none of those are it! :( i wish i could give me detail. thank you all though for trying to help

Update 2:
