Community service means working to improve your community. It is usually done through non-profit organizations. Some examples are: Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Food Banks, Therapeutic Horse Riding, senior citizen homes and worship centers.

You need to have someone who can sign off that you put in the hours you claim. Sorry, it can't be your best friend who says you picked up litter for those hours.

Using this site to start your search, you ought to be able to find something in your local area.

If you can find a place to do it who will give you that many hours, sure. But that's mostly up to you. Obviously if people work 40 hours in a week, you can do 25 hours a week. If they have restricted you to things like garbage pickup on the side of the road, you might not find enough hours. But often there are lots of other things you can do, including volunteering for a non-profit agency. Of course, it depends on your crime. If it involves stealing or other honesty issues, places may be less willing to have you. Talk to your probation officer or lawyer about options.
