Information on moving from Hamilton, ON to Nanaimo BC?

I am looking to find out any information you can provide on moving out West. I would like to move to Nanaimo, BC, from Hamilton, ON. Is there work for Medical Administrators? How would I find houses for rent? (long term) Do you know where there are family friendly neighborhoods. Would you suggest moving to Nanaimo? Thanks for all your help and any other helpful tips you can give me.

In general, the employment situation on Vancouver Island is poor. We locals call it "the island tax"--lots of low-pay paid low-skill jobs, but not very many good jobs. Vancouver Island Health Authority is cutting back like crazy. Housing is expensive in Nanaimo.
