Happy Canada Day! Isn't Canada Day the same as 4th of July for celebrating independence of our countries?

Isn't Canada Day like 4th of July? I read the wiki and the activities of Canada Day are pretty much like the activities we do on the 4th. Like BBQ, Fireworks, Picnics, etc.

actually, Canada Day does not celebrate our "independance, but the day that our nation actually came to be. Before 1867, Canada (the country itself) didn't exist. We were just a british colony known as british north america, but the forefathers of confederation got together and made Canada a country.

but as far as celebration goes, yeah, it's basically the Canadian version of the fourth of July. Happy independance day, by the way! :)

I guess it is similar, but am not familiar with any war they fought for their independence that took as much sacrifice as our War of Independence did for our ancestors.....
