I'm trying to make Vegetarian (maybe vegan) Lentil Soup?

Here's what I've got down so far(I'm kinda making it up based on what I have lol)

Lentils

Chopped carrots

Chopped onion

Water

Chopped tomatoe

Salt and pepper

I need to know what other seasonings to add to it. The thing is I have limited supplies. I also have blackeye peas. Also, How long should I cook the lentils for? I was thinking about 30 minutes then add the other ingrediants and simmer for about 15 minutes after bringing it to a boil? Would that be okay? And should I add the blackeye peas or anything?

Update:

Okay how about this-

Lentils

Chopped carrots

Chopped onion

Water

Chopped tomatoe

Crushed red pepper

Dried Rosemary

Garlic Powder

Oregeno

1 Bay Leaf

Salt and Pepper

I don't have any Garlic cloves :-/

Update 2:

Oh and how many lentils? Is 1 pound enough?

if you have the field grain company sausages, fry them and add to soup
