cant get past safe mode screen on windows XP?

the other day my laptop got really slow, and being short of patience, i just manually shut it down by holding down the power button. upon turning it on a reached the safe mode menu, and no matter which option i choose, it starts booting up, then i see the computers logo, then i come back to the safe mode screen. and i cannot get past it. is there any way for me to fix this at home???

Update:

by the way i cant get into safe mode at all, i just keep coming back to the safe mode screen again and again and again.

Given your apparent level of knowledge in the internal workings of the system, your best bet is to use the system restore partition or disc. If you took it into something named akin to Nerd Team, it's what they're most likely to do.

When it is in safe mode, go to start/ help and support/Pick a task/ Undo changes to your computer, (select a date prior to when you shut it down with the off button, and follow the instructions.)
