There are several different ways you can go about cleaning up your credit to make your scores better. Sometimes when you start paying on an old account, it will bring the date of last activity current and your scores will drop even further. That's not always the best route to take. You can settle and do what's called a "pay for deletion" where you agree on a payoff amount, and they take it off your credit. Whatever you do, always get the agreement in writing FIRST. You can get all kinds of settlement letters at http://www.credittrauma.com/ under the Free Creditor Letters section at the top of the page, or you can get a Simple 8 Step System to repair your credit which walks you through all the things you can do to repair your credit at http://repaircredittrauma.com./
