Battle of Worth 6 August 1870.

The Prussian army (there was no 'Germany' until January 1871) eventually overwhelmed the French army by weight of numbers. However, the French commander,MacMahon, was able to withdraw with the remainder of his army to Chalons.

It was really the second battle of Worth in 1870, the first took place towards the end of 1793. The battle was between France and Germany. Germany won which means France lost.
