It's the modulus, also called the "absolute value". It is written |x|, and is defined by:

    |x| = x, if x ≥ 0

    |x| = -x, if x < 0.

The absolute value may be thought of as the number's distance from zero on the real number line. For example, the modulus of -7 is 7 and the modulus of −5 is 5.

    In this case, |-15| = 15

    |-15| is 15

Number between || is the absolute value of that number. Absolute value of a number is always positive
