Why do some people treat the bible as if it's an accurate recorded history of the universe?

Writing didn't even develop until long after man was worshiping the gods of just about everything. We know history didn't start with Adam and Eve because only one regional culture had that story, the rest of the world had other creation stories that did not even remotely resemble that one. So, knowing that other cultures were writing stories and worshiping other gods long before any part of the bible was even dreamed of, and some of those cultures were far more advanced and have much longer histories than the people who wrote the bible. So why do some people treat the bible as if it is the only accurate source of information?

Because the Bible is the only accurate source. The other writings have been produced to mislead the masses from the actual truth. Adam and Eve were the first humans created. Actually the Bible is or is amongst the oldest surviving record of human literature. Also, there is no ancient literature that has been preserved so thoroughly as that which has been translated into the Bible. The Bible is from the Divine Creator, not cultured men from their history of human learning. The Bible is inspired of God, not mere intellectual thoughts of men.

I suspect they treat it that way because they were taught that to believe anything else means they lack faith.

It's ironic, since the weak of faith assume that God can only use objective history (never mind all the cultural assumptions about history) to convey His truth in the Bible.

According to their beliefs the bible is "divinely inspired." Therefore any error would be an error of God's, and since it is impossible for God to error, the bible must be correct in all things. It is all rater sad, actually.

First of all, the Bible is the Word of God. However it is not a complete record as you've established. I think people treat it as complete because they want answers to questions that aren't answered in the Bible. Some people also foolishly think that God is done interacting with humans and that the Bible is all we need. This is narrow minded and shows fear rather than faith. There are answers to the "holes" in the bible and they are discovered by faith in Christ, as exemplified by the characters in the Bible.

Because they skipped grade school, were gullible and stupid due to both genetics and upbringing, and because the Church has vaults of money.
