should a window motor still move if not installed but plugged in?

I have a Chevy G20 conversion van. My question is IF the newer window motor is plugged in but not installed IN the door yet shouldn't the motor still move?

yes it will work by hooking it straight to the battery. i checked them out before by running a wire from the battery to the plug-in and grounding the motor to see if it runs. 1 prong is for up and the other prong is for down.

Make sure the motor housing is grounded. I'd run a ground and B+ from the battery to the motor connectors just to make sure you have power and ground. It does not matter which terminals you hook the wires up to, when switched the motor will run the other direction.
