What do I need to get started making Electronic/DarkWave music?
Recommend some Hardware and Software. I have some free audio recording/editing software, but its not that great. and I have a keyboard, it MIGHT be able to be used as a MIDI controller, but idk anything about how that works. I do know it has a MIDI-Out port though.

I use FL Studio Producer Edition for my electronic music. Very capable host, quite easy to learn yet very advanced when you get the hang of it. It supports VST so you can use many free VST instruments available to download online to get more sounds.
You can check the demo here: http://demo.flstudio.com/
In case you end up getting FL Studio, you can get 10% discount on your first order from image-line with this promo link for new customers: https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offe...
Just make sure you get the right version. The demo is basically the same as the Producer Edition, except for some of the generators like Sytrus and Directwave that are only available in the Signature Bundle. You can compare the editions here: http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/editions....
Other options are Ableton Live, Cakewalk Sonar, Cockos Reaper, and many more. Check here for a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_worksta...
Regarding hardware, a good audio interface might be helpful and if you want to use your keyboard as a MIDI controller keyboard you will need to have an interface for it. Is your MIDI Output port a DIN plug ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-DIN_connector ) ?
Then you will need a similar connection on your computer, either by using an audio interface that has this port, or by using a MIDI Din to USB cable.
