I could not agree more with what KP said about diet, Karl. You can lose weight by starving yourself, but the damage you can do to your body is definitely not worth it. Besides, you need to fuel your body so you have the energy to work out in the first place, and to keep up the pace. On the other side of that, once you start eating again your body will grab on to and store just about everything you eat, which will send your weight soaring. Not good at all.
Cardio is a great way to burn fat and it sounds like you're definitely going in the right direction. One thing I would add to that is weight or resistance training. Some people turn their noses up at weights because of the idea that you will hugely bulk up, but that doesn't have to be the case. Doing lighter weights (or in some cases, no weights at all) for more reps will tone what you have and build some more lean muscle. Plus if done at a pace that keeps your heart rate up it will also burn calories. Building lean muscle allows your body to burn calories while at rest and keeps everything working more efficiently.
If you would like, I can e-mail you some things you can try.
