JOHN WOODEN: "I was raised on a small farm in southern Indiana and Dad tried to teach me and my brothers that you should never try to be better than someone else. Always learn from others and never cease trying to be the best you could be. That's under your control."

大部分都看得懂,只是對"you should never try to be better than someone else"

"you should never try to be better than someone else",意思你應該也知道是「絕不要想著要比別人好!」。

接著父親補充他的期望「Always learn from others and never cease trying to be the best you could be. That's under your control」,即「經常以別人為借鏡,學習他人之長、他人之短則戒之。
