Why is everybody mad at the U.S. for the oil spill even though BP is based in London?

BP isn't even an American company, so why should we be accused of being careless with the environment?

I think its because BP claimed to have an environmental policy. Clearly its a marketing disaster when you look if they really did have action the very dodgy company they associated with where no one was held accountable and the blame and transferance meant if disaster response was done the way China did during their olympics when school buildings werent built properly at least someone would have felt something was being done.

I agree with the republican senator who said shame on the government, its just more obama buck passing instead of as Harry S Truman once said, note also democrat, the buck stops here?

Everyone seems to think Obama has been weak and insipid on his handling, folks wanna know something is being done, the problem was in the regulations from the start which were left over from the previous Bush admin, which the Republican Senator admitted, that an entity could exist and when an Executive at BP says sorry, its means it when he says he is going to stay to the end to clear up the mess, it looks incredibly superficial when Obama punishes him telling him to "Golden parachute back to England"? name calling a golden parachuter is offensive not just to the troops who typically respond to a disaster but golden, its anti rich, the same as Rudd taxing miners in Australia, its lacks integrity for the action taken on wealth creation without accountability?

Specifically if Obama had done the right thing correct consequences would have followed clearly he hasnt and Obama must be held accountable?

To not even go to the disaster area, what did the Chinese polit beauro do? Listen to the folks in the field and act on it, attacking the person fixing the problem is incredibly incompetant? Go for the regulations to make the clean up really happen and in a big way even if an all night sitting of congress is needed to do it, to totally ignore it hoping it goes away, is like, wanting the whole coast line to get covered in a greasy oily slick, its more remiss government inaction than action man fixes slick? Dunno maybe Hillary really would have made a better President?

When you look at the American folks being a philanthropic decent kind genuine and sincere nation of incredible achievers, everyone in the whole debacle seems to have been more worried about keeping their jobs superficially than doing anything unpopular that would have created real results.

We had an oil slick on the incredibly valuable great barrier reef in Queensland Australia, and we thought deep sea oil drilling took way too long from August to September but this has dragged on for months and been an incredible remiss mismanagement from USA government from start to finish, the worst part? Kevin Rudd has not claimed a greater victory than Obama and is now loosing his job to Julia Guillard from blatant opportunism the worst part, Obama abandoned Kevin because he then decided to do something after months of inaction which cost Kevin Rudd his job to Julia? Weird mob lefties???

Source(s): Who cares? Try telling a water bird choking on sludge or the fisherman whose nets are drowing in black slime? Gotta get me an electric car this is all to vile?

The Brits feel that since the rigs were mainly being run by American workers.....that the Brits who work for BP didn't have anything to do with the accident.

Of course, the Brits are taught that they could have won World War II without us...and that our contribution to World War II was minimal compared to theirs. So, they have a rather slanted view of reality about the USA.

Thankfully, the TIMES in London today let loose with a great deal of BP bashing...and singled out the CEO for a lot of personal bashing, too.

Of course, the tabloids in the UK will continue feeding the rage of the average, uninformed Brit....just as FOX "news" keeps the ignorant stirred up here in the USA>

I'm pretty sure Deep Water Horizon was in US waters, and MMS was in charge of monitoring and safety checks. Apparently MMS failed in doing their job properly which is why people could be mad. http://www.aei.org/article/102160. MMS has been corrupt for years, so you can't just turn around and blame Bush. If Obama had problems with MMS, he should have cleaned house and straightened it out when he arrived, not take campaign money from BP and pretend everything is A-OK

Nature Nazi's can't very well go after a foreign company so they trash America. It's just how they roll. I believe one could make a very good case against these eco-terrorists that the laws they got a Liberal Congress to pass are directly responsible for oil companies having to explore and drill in such remote, restricted areas and have to abide by draconian legislation.

    Americans are mad at BP

  • London didn't forbid use of the rigs Obama's MMS said WOULD HAVE prevented the leak.

London didn't forbid getting at the SAME DEPOSIT from safer locations.

There's more, but those two things alone were EXPECTED to produce this leak or another one like it in the area.

And after the emails that show what's his name at BP wanted them to stop being so cautious so they could produce more.

Because, the U.S. environmentalist are the ones who would not let oil companies drill where it would be safer, instead of 5,000 ft down where there is no control, of say an oil spill.

    "BP" stands for (B)ritish (P)etrolium.

They're not mad at America, they're just using the disaster as a stick to hit the president with because Glenn Beck told them to.

It was BP (Bush Policies) that caused the oil spill in the first place.
