Why would God destroy a statue of [Touchdown] Jesus?
...or was it Thor?
As lightning hits are deemed 'an act of God.'

God can not be blamed for each lightning strike. God isn't Zeus, the mythological god who threw lightning bolts. My God loves all mankind, and is not out to interrupt us, yet to keep us. yet, the international is doomed in the process the tribulation, which will commence after the rapture of the Church. that's extremely close to, and Romans 10:9-10 is the way of salvation.
