Descriptive Writing...?

Question

I need help describing a city at night. If you could list as many descriptive setences as possible with as many interesting similes and metaphors that would be great. I don't want a whole page of descriptive writing just as many sentences that you can think of which are not only unique but use a range of good vocabulary.

e.g The night-sky was as dark as.....(but slightly more interesting)

p.s Sentences which include similes and meatphors and really stand out gains 10 easy points.

Darkness swallowed the city like a black hole.

The lights shined so bright, as if a million stars were falling down.

The streets were as busy as a field where a football game is going on.

The streets were as empty as if everyone moved away.

I walked thorugh the street, thinking that I was in heaven. It was so beautiful.
