How do you take a youtube video and put it in the imovie on a mac?

I have a macbook and I'm trying to make an interview with a historical figure but using some youtube videos. I don't know how to take that video and put it in the imovie to edit it. I don't know how to splice. Can someone tell me how to?

When YouTube completely redesigned their "video pages" last April,

they also reconfigured the "orientation" of their video's source codes.

As such, practically EVERY SINGLE DOWNLOADER is now a dud.

You'll have to do lots of up-to-date research -- and also be very wary

of the multitude of ''spammers" here on Y!Answers who are trying to

SUCKER you and other people into BUYING their ''no-longer-usable''

    bogus product.

iMovie only supported MPEG-2/MPEG-4/Quick Time Movie/AVCHD/DV and HDV(High Definition Video). so I think you just need a right converter to download and convert youtube video to imovie mp4, then you can put the converted video into imovie program. I am using iSkysoft Video Converter which can do this well, it also can convert any videos or audios between different formats, have a try by yourself. You can yahoo or google search and download it, hope it can help you.

You have to change the format of the video. Click file, save as, and change the extention to something like .mov or .mp4 Should work fine. Good luck.

iMovie reads mov, m4v, mp4 videos. If you want to put youtube video to imovie, you must convert youtube to a friendly format for imovie like mp4. To do this, you need a video converter.

this will help you... use 'zillatube' - it gives you good quality video/audio and more ( example, it can convert to mpg video format that is compatible with most video editor)

it is the easiest (and also the fastest) way.

Zillatube easily saves or download videos from Youtube... to your computer, and more (e.g. it will help you convert them, or just watch them easily anytime you want).

It works very well - http://www.zillatube.com
