Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid that is found in high levels in the skeletal and heart muscles of humans, as well as in white blood cells, and the central nervous system. It is also found in some plants, such as seaweed, fungi and bacteria. Taurine is a main ingredient in bile and aids in the digestion of fats and the absorption of vitamins that are fat soluble. It is a necessary acid that our body produces naturally. Energy drinks, such as Red Bull, have taurine in them.
Panax is a perennial herb of eastern North America and Asia having aromatic tuberous roots, and it's a type of ginseng. Panax ginseng is an herbal supplement often used to improve mental functioning and overall mental health. Some of the active compounds of the supplement may also stimulate the immune system and lower blood sugar. While this herb is claimed to be beneficial for various uses, there is currently not enough evidence supporting this. Potential side effects include hypertension, headaches, and insomnia.
What Is Panax Ginseng?
Ginseng is a popular herbal supplement made from the roots of ginseng plants. There are several different types of ginseng; usually, the term "ginseng" refers to one particular type, known as Panax ginseng. This type is not the same as American ginseng or Siberian ginseng. Other common names for Panax ginseng include (but are not limited to):
People take Panax ginseng for a variety of reasons. Often, it is used to stimulate the immune system or to improve mental functioning and overall mental health.
Here's how panex gingseng works:
There are numerous different active compounds in Panax ginseng, and it is thought that it is probably a combination of several of these active compounds that is responsible for the actions of the herbal supplement. Some of these compounds have "blood-thinning" properties, helping to prevent blood platelets from sticking together (although it is not clear if this effect is significant in humans). Some of the compounds may stimulate the immune system, which may theoretically help fight off infections or cancer. Panax ginseng may also help lower blood sugar using various mechanisms, including increasing insulin production and increasing the sensitivity of the body to insulin. Panax ginseng may have estrogen-like effects, although there is considerable disagreement about whether these effects really occur.
These are just some of the ways the supplement may work. As more is learned through research about the different components, more will be known about how (and if) Panax ginseng works for various uses.
I'm glad you asked this question. I learned something, too! :)Source(s): www.wisegeek.com http://erectile-dysfunction.emedtv.com

Not sure about the panax ginseng. I hear that stuff is supposed to perk you up perhaps. Taurine is a really important amino acid which you make in your body. When you're a kid you make quite a lot - and it's used for about everything - it helps with heart beat and cholesterol and a whole list of stuff. As you get older, you produce less of it - so it's nice to take a supplement. Baby's can't make it, so it's in mother's milk - and now in baby formula.
For things like irregular heart beat you can try taurine and magnesium.
If you want to read about taurine - also vitamins, minerals and supplements in general, get a USED copy of Dr. Atkins - "Vita-Nutrient Solution" - off of Amazon Books. This book has all the vitamins and minerals and amino acids and fats and his experience with them in his practice. He was a heart doctor in NYC for many years. It can be a real help in treating yourself for many problems.
