Phil Jackson is most certainly NOT in the HOF as a player. He is in as a coach, but he will never be in as a player.

The only guys to be inducted as both players and coaches are John Wooden, Lenny Wilkens and Bill Sharman.

    If you go to:

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/hof.htm...

this page lists all HOFers. For the guys who played in the NBA, you can sort them by stats (per game stats) to see who had the "worst" numbers in various categories.

But I'm not going to make any judgments on who the worst player was.

EDIT: Maurice Stokes averaged 16.4 points and 17.3 rebounds per game during his 3 year career.

Stokes played for the Cincinnati and Rochester Royals which, after a couple of moves, now play in Sacramento as the Kings.

This is the danger of asking questions about basketball history here on Y/A...you get idiots like "Don't Panic" who know absolutely nothing about basketball trying to pass themselves off as experts.

As far as Stokes is concerned, there was a reason he only played 3 years in the NBA:

"On March 12, 1958 in the last game of the 1957–58 NBA season, in Minneapolis, Stokes drove to the basket, drew contact and fell to the floor, hit his head, and was knocked unconscious. He was revived with smelling salts and returned to the game.

Three days later, after a 12-point, 15-rebound performance in an opening-round playoff game at Detroit against the Pistons, Stokes became ill on the team's flight back to Cincinnati. "I feel like I'm going to die," he told a teammate.

Stokes later suffered a seizure, fell into a coma and was left permanently paralyzed. In the end, he was diagnosed with "post-traumatic encephalopathy, a brain injury that damaged his motor control center."

Stokes was in a wheelchair the rest of his life, and passed away at age 36.

There is no NBA Hall of Fame. It's the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame and includes not just NBA, but encompasses women's basketball, the old ABA, college, and international basketball greats. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd should make the Hall of Fame easily, but none of the others. The exception might be Yao Ming who could make it because of the international nature of the HOF. Billups, Hamilton, Wallace and Carter can't match up with Nash and Kidd.

Well, you said player -not coach- (we agree on that in advance because you'd go "What?" when you'll read it).

Phil Jackson is a Hall of Famer both as a player and as a coach (super-understandable, he SHOULD be there as a coach!). As a player, he was a key role player coming off the bench for the Knicks (a defensive specialist though, an intense hard work ethic and a witty analysis). He became a starter afterwards.

This doesn't make him any terrible though. Imagine something like a much better Ron Artest in defense @_@

Maurice Stokes - played only 3 years, in the 50s, for a team that no longer exists. Never won anything significant. His best talent was rebounding.

If they're in the Hall of Fame they can't be the worst. They are all amazing players that earned their right to be there.
