In Tamil, we say '' yaadhum oore yavarum keleer '' and this puranaanooru was told in rig veda. what is vasudeva kutumbakam ? Following are some of the major uniquely distinguishing features of Vedas:
Vedas believed in “Universalism” or “Universal brotherhood”. What science now, at the end of 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, says Vedas believed thousands of centuries or rather hundreds of millennium before, that we are one big family whose roots can be traced to a single pair of a father and a mother – common parents! Color, race, creed, and other features were developed later on.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning, the entire world is truly just one family.
‘Ayam bandhurayam neti gananā laghuchetasām,
Udāracharitānām tu vasudhaiva kutumbakam’ (Maha Upanishad: Chapter 6, Verse 72), meaning, ‘One is my brother and the other is not – is the thinking of a small men or a narrow-minded person. For those who are broad-minded or wise people the entire world is a one big family.’
‘Ayam nijah paroveti gananā laghuchetasām,
Udāracharitānām tu vasudhaiva kutumbakam’ | (Hitopadesh: 1.3.71), meaning,
‘This is my own relative and that is a stranger’ – is the calculation of the narrow-minded; for the magnanimous-hearts, however, the entire earth is but a family.
The message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is also told in Panchatantra: 5.3.37. It is also mentioned in Purananuru (a collection of 400 verses composed by more than 150 poets) – an ancient Tamil Sangam literature dated around 100 BCE. “Yathum Oore Yavarum Kelir” (Song 192 by Kanniyan Poongundran), meaning, ‘every place is my home town; everyone is my kin’ or ‘to us all towns are one, all men our kin’.
Hinduism believes that the soul of an ant is as powerful as the soul of a lion, rhino, or an elephant, but because of the bodily limitations it does not show its power. Hinduism also believes that the souls of human being are also ontologically same as the soul of animals, other creatures, and also of plants. This is the reason why Hinduism doesn’t believe in killing not only of human beings but also the killing of any of the living creatures that has life or soul. That includes babies of human beings as well as of other living things. This kind of understanding, at more or less degree, also includes for the killing of plants, shrubs, and trees. All Hindus try to follow this teaching as much strictly as possible and try to limit the killing in the world. Not only the killing but Hinduism also teaches us not to do any harm to anybody with or without any reason, simply because, there resides or presents Atma (soul) and Paramatma (God) in everyone, Moreover all creatures have feelings. If we bear in our minds that God is in everybody and everything, He is present everywhere, then there would not be any reason to inflict even slightest pain to others not even in concealment. By hurting others there are chances that we would possibly and unknowingly hurt God – our beloved one. Hinduism believes that God exists and we should accept His debt and mercy on us by observing His ideals. Hinduism also teaches us to develop the understanding and feeling (bhāvanā) of “vasudhaiva kutumbakam,” meaning the whole world is a family.

By taking the above mentioned analogy as an example, Hinduism, tries to explain that the causal body or Karan sharir has an intimate relationship with the soul and through this relationship the soul is related the subtle (Sukshma) and gross (Sthul) body. As long as the causal body is attached to the soul it takes the birth and death repeatedly. Thus Karan sharir becomes the cause of rebirth. Once the causal body detaches completely from the soul then the soul gets the salvation and do not born again. Hinduism says that this causal body is also a material body but it goes with the soul and carries the information about the deeds and desires. Only thing that it cannot be seen or perceive by our senses and does not become dust unto dust or part of the environment because it leaves with the soul before anything happens the dead body.
