Why bother worrying about it when we have MUCH, MUCH more!? Russia can't even run a functional government, much less support an ally across an ocean. Venezuela is ONLY on the radar because of it's oil, not it's braun. Bottom line is that neither is a threat to us (not alone, nor in concert!).

Venezuela has a population half the size of California. It can built up it's forces all it wants and it can rattle swords, but it can never become a threat to the US. Even with Russia backing it up, it is just a tiny banana republic.
Chavez once made me late for a flight out of Russia. Can't stand that so and so!

GW Bush gave South America away to leftists years ago, through negligence, or better to say, through complete ignorance of what was going on there.
Having said that, there's nothing America can do about it anyway at this point, because we generally support and finance the more brutal governments of South America--most of South America hates America, with good reason.
