In general, carrying full term or childbirth is more risky than having an abortion. You have much greater of a chance that the presence of the fetus can cause something to go wrong in your own body. Abortion is safer in that it has a lower mortality rate - when perfomed legally and safely, and carries less risk of damage to the woman's body.

"According to the Center for Disease control the risk of death in the first trimester of pregnancy due to abortion in 1 in 1,000,000, and the risk of death due to abortion in the second trimester of pregnancy is less than 1 in 100,000. It should be noted that the risk of death associated with childbirth is about 11 times higher than that associated with abortion. "

It doesn't seem like you're asking this question because you want an abortion, just to win a fight with your boyfriend? Unfortunately, you're not right on this one. If he's suggesting that you get an abortion, he's probably just worried given what happened before. Men are frightened to death of something happening to the women they love, especially if it's something they know they can't help. You'll be keeping tabs on the pregnancy with your doctor. That's all you can do and listen to your doctor's advice.

It's your choice to make, and varies from situation to situation. You do what you feel is right, but instead of asking on yahoo answers, ask a doctor what the actual truth behind the matter is. I'm sorry for your loss. A doctor would better be able to look at your situation and your case and tell you which one would be more risky for you. TALK IT OUT WITH YOUR DOCTOR. That's the best piece of advice having been in a situation that it would have been MORE advisable for me to have an abortion (yes I did almost bleed to death from losing the baby that late and me hemorraghing etc)than to continue a pregnancy. Your dr's educated guess is better than some people who are all the way pro life saying "keep the baby even if it kills you".

EDIT-Thumbs down me away. This is a similiar type of situation that I myself have been on,only her pregnancy at this point seems totally fine,so it seems an abortion would be pointless, but this is a subject you need to discuss with your dr. not some random ppl on yahoo answers who say how wrong it would be for you to have an abortion, even if the pregnancy was going to kill you.

At one point during my 2nd pregnancy (I miscarried late term at almost 20 weeks) the drs were advising and asking me if I wanted an abortion because it was riskier to me to continue to carry the pregnancy because of the vast amounts of blood I was losing. The pregnancy had problems though. This is a situation only you and your dr can approach.

Abortion is, by far, the riskier choice off the two. I suffered a stillbirth in 2006, and found myself pregnant 3 months later. My son was born healthy and perfect at 37 weeks, 11 months after my daughter had been born. He'll be 3 next month, a normal, perfect and happy toddler. Physically, pregnancy won't be as easy, you'll be more likely to have aches and pains, round ligament pain and sciatic pain because your body hasn't had the time to heal fully between pregnancies, but it's not a danger to either you or the baby, just a little harder to get through it.

A full term pregnancy is more dangerous to a woman than an early abortion.

(Maternal mortality in the U.S. is about 13 per 100,000. Mortality rates for early abortion are about 1 per million. Late term abortions become more dangerous.)
