Why did the Republican controlled Congress/White House run massive $300 BILLION deficits EVERY year?

From jan 20 2001 to jan 2007 republicans controlled the entire govt and ran massive deficits every year.

2002 - 258 billion deficit

2003 - 378 billion deficit

2004 - 413 billion deficit

2005 - 318 billion deficit

2006 - 248 billion deficit

2007 - 161 billion deficit

Avg deficit of 298 billion - (please note, the war was costing 50 billion yearly so that is not the cause)

Lets see... 378, 413 (election year), 318, 248, and 161... yup, we were just starting to fix up some of the money wasters you guys had set up. You know, cleaning up after you guys can be hard. And hey, look at that, take the 50 billion for the war out of those numbers and we're doing better than your Dem. gov all 'round.

Quit your fussing, have you ever noticed that republicans don't tend to fuss about stuff like that? Even though you guys keep accusing us to try and make yourselves look better? I mean, you'd think that all the problems you guys have would be worth complaining about non-stop right? Oh wait, I forgot, we're actually mature! How silly of me.

Pow beyoch! you got served: "It took the United States of America 233 years (1776-2009) to amass a national debt of $11 trillion. Yet President Barack Obama's record large 2009 budget deficit estimated at $1.85 trillion and his own spending plans for the next 10 years (2010-2019) show that our national debt will likely double over the next 10 years. Using the Obama administration's own projections, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that, including the record 2009 budget deficit of $1.85 trillion, and huge annual deficits over 2009-2019 will result in an additional $11.1 trillion in national debt, on top of the current $11.4 trillion. As I will discuss below, the national debt will very likely more than double in the next decade because some of the CBO's economic assumptions may be too optimistic. As noted above, the CBO also recently revised its estimate for the budget deficit for fiscal year 2009 to at least $1.85 trillion. But unless the economy rebounds soon, that number will very likely top $2 trillion by the end of September when FY2009 comes to an end. According to the CBO, Obama plans to run a FY2010 deficit of apprx $1.4 trillion and almost $1 trillion in FY2011." 15 seconds ago ved! :

    2009 - 1.5 trillion deficit

    2010 - 1.8 trillion deficit

    2011 - 1.5 trillion deficit 0bama projection

    2012 - 1.7 trillion deficit 0bama projection

    2013 - 1.2 trillion deficit 0bama projection

    2015 - 1.0 trillion deficit 0bama projection

    2016 - 1.8 trillion deficit 0bama projection

    2017 - 1.4 trillion deficit 0bama projection

And administration projections are notoriously underestimated.

I wish we could return to the fiscal sanity of Bush.

Bush had 9/11, Katrina and banking malfeasance.

0bama is trying to spend us out of a recession, which made it worse, prolonged and deepened it, by robbing the credit markets needed capital to expand real jobs-creating industry to finance his massive irresponsibility.

History is very clear about governments doing this...it never works. It didn't work for FDR, and it's not working for 0bama.

All it's doing is guaranteeing your financial strangulation 20 years from now. Enjoy your Chinese bondage.

Hey - where are the figures from 1995 - 2001? Did you mean to not report the surplus years?

Because they spent too much damn money.

Which is why in the primaries, all incumbents, Democrat and Republican, are going away.

And hey... the dems took control in 2006 with Nancy Pelosi.

Obama spent more in his first year than all those years you listed put together, what do you have to say about that? Also, most conservatives would say the republicans were acting like idiots during that time, no conservative was happy with that, you act like they defend that.

Becausae Bush gave welfare to the richest Americans in the form of huge tax cuts while stealing the food out of the mouths of little American children.

As reported by the Tresury [ http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=739 ]

"The growth of deficits has largely reflected stunning revenue declines"

In light of reduced revenues spending was increased.

    Waging two wars

    Medicare drug plan

and not implimenting social security reform

Bottom line you can't spend more than you take in.

Obama really showed them, didn't he?

$1.42 trillion over budget in a single year.

Liberals complaining about Bush spending have no credibility. You can't ignore Obama's spending sprees without being a moron.
