    The advantages of using solar energy in your home are numerous. But the 2 prime reasons are

    1) Cost

    2) Kindness to the environment

    As conventional sources of energy deplete and the temperature of the world rises, the need for alternate sources of energy is becoming more evident. While heated debates may be taking place about the viability of clean coal, everyone is in agreement that solar energy will be a leading alternate energy option in the future.

    There is a lot of talk about the depletion of fossil fuels, such as oil, and that the world will run out of these fuels in the near future. One of the main advantages of solar energy is that it's not going to disappear anywhere.

    Solar power is the most 'green' energy source in the world. It does not damage the environment around it in any way. There are no residues, waste or byproducts of any kind and the process of capturing the energy does not produce any noise pollution.

    No one will charge you any money for harvesting the sun's energy. Once you have setup the solar panels, you can start converting solar energy into electricity for free. Thus you have no worries of spending a large portion of your salary on electricity bills.

    Solar technology is very portable. You can unplug the panel and take it with you on a trip. Tiny solar panels are also available, which you can use to charge your electronic gadgets while you're on the move.

    Solar power, along with other renewable energy solutions such as wind power, gives us the hope that in the coming days the environment around us will be much less polluted.

    The cost factor has been something that has mitigated against solar panels. But, with the rapid growth in technology and increase in demand, solar technology is becoming more affordable. New developments have put solar energy on a par with coal manufacturing plants on a per-kilowatt basis. Hot water panel technology has also seen great improvement in recent years as well, and the payback times for domestic systems can now be as short as five years.

    By changing to renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind power, you can save yourself a lot of money..and leave a better planet behind than the one you found.

    Pro: Clean

    Con: Very expensive (cost of solar cells that do have a life limit and batteries that need to be replaced every 2 years). Doesn't work at night. The further north you go the less efficient it is.

    It's a hype for now. It is very inefficient. as for being clean energy, well.. true it does not pollute to make electricity but if it is solar PV's the materials and manufacturing of the cells are toxic and put out quite a bit of pollution.
