Are the U.S. Special Forces Units that use the .45 acp 1911 handgun restricted to Ball Ammunition ?

I was wondering if the Hostage Rescue Team and other Special Forces that do use the .45 acp 1911 were restricted to ball ammunition like the rest of the U.S. Military. I realize the .45 with ball ammo is more effective than the 9mm with ball ammo but I wanted to know if they are allowed to use hollow points. It seems like they would be restricted to ball otherwise they could use smaller caliber hollowpoint (like 9mm) and be similarly effective with their handguns. I guess I'm trying to figure out why they use the .45 acp handguns and not the 9 mm handguns. Does anyone know?
