what would you say are the benefits and challenges are of self service support?
Just a little worksheet I gotta fill out, i have some ideas down on it, but I want to see if anyone can suggest anything new, thanks :)
This would be for companies who sell goods to customers :)

Pro: cheaper for the company
Con: not good for the majority of customers.
Bottom line: people trash the company name for the poor support. But more and more companies do it because business is concerned with the next quarter's profits, not the long-term effect that might occur when the current CEO has moved on to other pastures (to trash). (I call it "the browning of capitalism".) Companies that look at the long term are those that remain profitable for the long term.
