2004-2007 Volkswagen Jetta?

I'm buying a "new" car and want to know how much a second hand VW would cost. I'm looking for a 2004 -2007 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan with low to average milage. Two wheel drive, 4 or 5 cylinder engine, manual transmission, power locks and keyless entry, air conditioning, power mirrors, AM/FM radio, anti-lock brakes, sun/moonroof and front and side airbags. How much would a car like this with these options cost me?

How much more would it cost for heated seats and a leather interior?

VW Jettas made before 2007 are pieces of junk about 80% of the time.

I agree with brandon you have to look at those websites and they will pretty much tell you everything you are wanting to know. You can also look at customer reviews (i like Edmund's best.) I was recently looking into getting a 2007 vw passat until i saw the reviews. They are horrible and they are for other vw's as well so i would think long and hard before you get that car.

I bought a 2004 Jetta GLS (top of the line) with all the options, leather, sunroof, monsoon stereo, 1.8T engine for $7500.

I've owned it almost 18 months and it has been a great car.

Consumer Reports gives these price ranges for the Jetta:

    2004: $5,000 to $10,800

    2005: $6,600 to $13,600

    2006: $8,500 to $16,000

    2007: $9,900 to $15,700

However, if the absence of serious problems is a consideration, the 4-cylinder and 5-cylinder Volkswagen Jetta has a 2010 Auto Reliability GPA of 1.83 (on the standard scale of 0.00 to 4.00) over a 6-year data history, which is a tad below average. For comparison, here are overall 2010 Auto Reliability GPAs for several brands, in descending order:

    Honda: 3.67 ( an A)

    Toyota: 3.53 (a low A)

    Subaru: 2.61 (a low B)

    Ford: 2.17 (a C)

    Saturn: 1.49 (a high D)

    Chevrolet: 1.37 (a D)

    GMC: 1.25 (a D)

    Jeep: 1.08 (a D)

    Chrysler: 1.04 (a D)

    Dodge: 0.97 (a D)
