an anabolic steroid. A stock solution is first prepare by dissolving 10.0 mg of

fluoxymesterone in enough water to give a total volume of 500.0 mL. A 100.0-uL

aliquot (portion) of this solution is diluted to final volume of 100.0mL. Calculate

the concentration of the final solution in terms of molarity.

    Molar mass of C20H29FO3 = 12x20 + 1x29 + 19 + 16x3 = 336 g/mol

    No. of moles of C20H29FO3 = (10/1000)/336 = 2.976 x 10^-5 mol

    Volume of the stock solution = 500 mL = 0.5 L

    Molarity of the stock solution = (2.976 x 10^-5)/0.5 = 5.952 x 10^-5 M

    Consider the further dilution:

    Dilution factor = (100/1000000)/(100/1000) = 1/1000

    Molarity of the diluted solution = (5.952 x 10^-5) x (1/1000) = 5.952 x 10^-8 M
