Henry O. Flipper becomes the first African American to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is given a dishonorable discharge from the army in 1882 on charges that appear to be racially motivated. In 1999 President Clinton grants him a posthumous pardon.
Lieutenant John Alexander was second graduating in 1887.
Charles Young-Young won appointment to West Point in 1884 and in 1889 became the third African American graduate from the school.Source(s): http://www.buffalosoldier.net/HenryO.Flipper2.htm http://www.buffalosoldier.net/CharlesYoung.htm http://www.buffalosoldiersresearchmuseum.org/resea...
