MA:Yes and no.
I tend to read the reviews..but ignore the conclusions.
For instance... I see someone review , ohhhh.. Evile's "Enter the Grave" album on the Archives. They give it a 45%..but then all the pertinent points they make are the very reasons I give it an 85%.
So, I give it a whirl based on what they say.. how the vocals are described, if people rave over the riffs or drum fills, etc. Then from there, I will either follow to the band's Myspace if they have one, or try to find em on Youtube, to hear a track or two for myself.
THEN, after all that, I will considering buying an album.
It also sometimes works in reverse..I link hop on Youtube, and find a song or two I like.. but can't find anything else..then I might check the Archives for a review to see if people report some level of consistency..or if said track is the only stand out, etc. If that proves the case, I will likely hold off on looking for the album til I either find someone on here that I trust who has it, or someone posts additional Youtubes or something to give me more info.
MQ2- They gave Iron Maidens Power slave and 7th sons an aggregate of 93 and 92% respectively. I can buy that. No album appeals to everyone. I am always leery of too high or too low of ratings. Usually not very accurate
MQ3- FINALLY! OK.. well how about the idiotic reviews that Eluveities Invocation got? Album is amazing.. problem it that most of the folks on the Archives are TRVE KVLT idiots.
BQ- It's funny..off the top of my head, I could not tell you, but as soon as I checked my other window, the band you recommended Negura Bunget, their OM album is rated an average of 99% on 6 reviews.. and their lowest rated is still like 90%
*Got an interview to get to, will answer the rest later.
***Edit..ok I am back..and now EM wont open on my browser.. so IDK if I will be able to look at their reviews. I can't think of any off the top of my head.
btw..still listening to the tracks from your other question while I type.
