Who invented the Algebraic Method?
I'm doing a research project on the Algebraic Method for extra credit in math.
Who invented the Algebraic Method and how long ago did it begin?
I need a lot more information about it. Does anyone know a web page or website that could tell me the history, the origin or any other information about it? Please and thank you!

Do you just mean algebra?
One of the original formulators of elementary algebra was the Persian mathematician al-Khwārizmī, who developed a method of solving quadratic equations and similar elementary algebraic problems in his c.820 CE book "The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing." The word "algebra" comes from one of the words in the Arabic title of this book. You can find more information at the following sites:

It's an Arab invention based on the Indian numerical system.
Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī (yes, I had to look up the name as I never remember how to spell it) was, in many respects, Algebra's father.
