What literary devices can you see in this poem?

Driving to Town Late to Mail a Letter

By Robert Bly

It is a cold and snowy night. The main street is deserted.

The only things moving are swirls of snow.

As I lift the mailbox door, I feel its cold iron.

There is a privacy I love in this snowy night.

Driving around, I will waste more time.

Thanks everyone ! :)

Driving to Town Late to Mail a Letter....statement to create scene and purpose

    By Robert Bly

It is a cold and snowy night. The main street is deserted....assonance

The only things moving are swirls of snow............alliteration

As I lift the mailbox door, I feel its cold iron.....imagery of cold linked with power

There is a privacy I love in this snowy night........repetition

Driving around, I will waste more time.................brings the poem to a circle to link with the title.

Imagery, Imaginative diction (cold iron), "end-stops" on every sentence, like they're a snap shot. Irony in the last line (instead of adding to the streets description, the speaker decides to drive around and enjoy the solitude which he says is wasting time, but since he enjoys it, he really doesn't think he's wasting time.)
