What do you think of Obama's strategies and favorites to replace Stevens Supreme Court seat?
a nominee from Chicago thuggery (Diane Wood, MORE LIBERAL than Obama)
another "wise Latina"
a career politician and policy-maker
Obama has indicated that he is open to selecting a candidate who has had a career as a politician or a policymaker, rather than considering only judges.
One of the top contenders for the job is Elena Kagan, 49, whom Obama chose as the first female U.S. solicitor general, a job in which she represents the U.S. government before the Supreme Court. She benefits from having been through a successful confirmation process.
Also seen as leading candidates are Merrick Garland, 57, a U.S. appeals judge in Washington seen viewed as a more moderate pick likely to appeal more to Republicans, and Diane Wood, 59, a Chicago appeals judge who knows Obama from teaching at the University of Chicago law school, but is seen as MORE liberal.
Other names mentioned by administration officials include Sidney Thomas, 56, a Montana native now an appeals court judge in California who would broaden the geographic representation on a court dominated by former judges from the Northeast.
Two possible choices from outside the courthouse are Democratic Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, 51, and Janet Napolitano, 52, Obama's homeland security secretary and the former Democratic governor of Arizona.
Conservatives had questioned Sotomayor's impartiality and she was targeted in an Internet clip in which she commented that a "wise Latina" might reach a better decision than a white man.
Whatever happened to selecting nominees according to qualifications?

Qualifications. What the hell do you mean Qualifications, What are you, are you a
Radical, a Tea Party member, some bizarre Conservative that expects people to be
competent at what they do. Nay Women of the world. Speak no more. The blind
left only is concerned that a Lesbian Judge. A Lesbian head of Homeland Security,
or some other member of the Gay or Tranny community gets on the High Court.
Don't ever think for one minute they would ever let a little thing like qualification get
in the way of electing another liberal pond scum sucking loser to a job that really
needed qualified people. After all they put Obama in office correct.

It's still there. Elena Kagan and Merrick Garland are likely the front-runners. Either one should be a cinch barring something completely unforeseen (as was the case with Douglas Ginsburg and Harriet Miers). With Kagan, everyone already knows the deal (except Scott Brown).
As for Sotomayor, the complaint was over 6 rulings of 1,500 as a trial and appellate judge.

Deliver US all from any serious consideration for Canadian-born, incompetent Jenny Granholm, currently residing in the Governor's Mansion in Lansing, Michigan.
Lord Love A Duck! This woman promised Michigan voters during her first campaign that "in 5 years, we'd all be blown away."
Now, look @ Michigan today. 'nuff said.
Her current slick maneuver to make the budget "appear" balanced is to empty the prisons, despite a "truth-in-sentencing" citizen initiative which was enacted before she misrepresented her abilities to be the state's executive. Her "free-range felon" program is closing prisoners + returning convicts to neighborhoods were the local law enforcement can't keep up.
If you come to Michigan, be sure you're SERIOUSLY armed with a large quantity of ammo.

All these names are speculation, since Obama has not said anything about whom he is considering.
The Constitution places no prerequisites whatsoever on the members of the Supreme Court.
Clarence Thomas had been a judge for under a year.
Douglas, Brandeis, Warren, White, Goldberg, Fortas, Powell, and Rehnquist never served as judges.

It's been a long day and I'm tired so I'll give you the short answer. It won't be good. Have you ever heard obama refer to the constitution? Ever?
Oh yeah he did mention that it's "fundamentally flawed" because it doesn't give enough power to the federal government to run our fricking lives!
He doesn't give a damn about the constitution, he cares about his agenda period. And you know what that is.

The one thing I do know is that person will not respect the constitution the way it is written.
A judge is a lawyer in a black robe usually a ACLU supporter.

a) wonderful as long as he does not put anybody even remotely like the neocons on there now, such as Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts b) the neocons put an end to that practice quite a while ago.
