C: By definition of a parallelogram, C=D= 46 degrees

F: By definition of a parallelogram, F is supplementary to C, so it equals 134 degrees

CBE: By definition of an isosceles trapezoid, CBE=C= 46 degrees

FEB: By definition of an isosceles trapezoid, FEB=F= 134 degrees

2. Use the pythagorean theorem to find the height of the trapezoid, which is congruent to half the length of the you are looking for. Since the triangle given is a 5-12-13 triangle, the height is 26*5/13=10. Twice that is 20, your solution.

3. By definition of an isosceles trapezoid, 4x^2=8x+5. Set 4x^2-8x-5 equal to 0, and factor it into (2x+1)(2x-5). From that you can conclude that x=-1/2 or x=5/2

4. All you have to do is use the pythagorean theorem for the 8 by 8 triangle and the 8 by 15 triangle. Since 8=8, the two upper triangles are 90-45-45 triangles, so the hypotenuse of each of them is 8sqrt(2). The lower triangles are 8-15-17 triangles, so the hypotenuse is 8*17/8=17. So your answer is 2*8sqrt(2)+2*17= 34+16sqrt(2) inches
