Given that, genetically, the difference between a chimp and a human is 1%?

How do we rationalize the idea that race exists. Humans share over 99% of their DNA in common, they share 98% primates, and 39% with plants. The average African - American, is 20 --> 30% Native American & European; the average Mexican, is upwards of 55% European, and humans intermix in practically every part of the world in which they inhabit.

Added to this is the fact that, according to the most plausible modern scientific theories concerning human origins, all humans originated in East Africa & then spread though the world. Genetically speaking, modern day Africans have the genes of every group in the world

You clearly have little or no expertise in this subject. Your question is more of a rant than a question.

If you are going to rant I recommend that you confine your rants to topics where you have some expertise.

  • read the well dressed ape -- it is entertaining and you will come to the conclusion that race does exist. People have developed to survive in certain climates altitudes. Example the Chinese took over Tibet a long time ago but still the native people of Tibet do way better in high altitude -- they live longer and are much healthier. Maybe there are other factors but the book gives example after example of these things and actually gets into the biology of some of the examples too.

because of that book I think race exists

another example I know is the majority of black people have more fast twitch muscles then white people and that is why they can jump higher

or sickle cell in black people was developed to fight malaria

There is no genetic bases for defining race. There are no genes in Blacks that do not exist in Whites, Asians, etc. Just about all the variability in the human gene pool which marks our differences arose before humans migrated out of Africa.

Race is a societal construct with no, real scientific definition.

Dr Seuss had this figured out, long ago.

The idea of race has no biological basis, but there are demographic areas where it becomes useful. Medical resource planning, for instance, must be able to account for the number of possible cases of sickle cell anemia in an area, which requires knowing who has recent African origins.

At an atomic scale, humans are almost identical to a plate of pancakes. By your logic, then.. we're all pancakes.

Seriously, educate yourself. There are clear genetic traits in the various racial groups. This argument only serves to make you look like foolish.

a poodle is virtually genentically identical to a saint bernard but they are not quite the same. i am not sure what your point is.

if you are trying to suggest that the only difference between the races are cosmetic, you may be politically correct but you will have a tough time demonstrating this scientifically.

People keep the idea of race based on skin color as an aspect of their own identity.
