Racism is actually a lot more prevalent in the Democratic party. They entice minorities into voting for them by putting on persuasive PR stunts, but in reality they enslave them by making more and more people dependent on the government for life. Then they feel like they HAVE to vote for them in the future or else their subsidies and entitlements will be taken away.
Republicans sometimes are douche bags too, but the general CONSERVATIVE (not necessarily republican) ideals you yourself mentioned are ones that support a free market where individuals are free to work hard and be successful. Sometimes conservatives are portrayed as being cruel because they allow people to "lose", but that is just the fact of a free market system... there are winners and losers. The only way to have no losers is to make everybody exactly equal, with no incentive to work hard because you know you won't be rewarded any more than if you are lazy (this is socialism).
Quit worrying about race and start thinking like an American. Vote for people who share your ideals and philosophical viewpoints, regardless of race, sex, or political party.
I'm a conservative and I usually vote republican, but nothing makes me happier than seeing a black/mexican/asian person who starts off poor work hard and end up wildly successful. But I'm equally thrilled when a white guy does the same thing. It's the American dream.
However it pisses me off to no end when reverse-racism occurs and a minority who is less qualified than I am receives a position or job not because of their merit but because the company/school wants to "look" diverse to keep the NAACP, ACLU and other destructive organizations off their back.
