I believe they're cornrows, but most places will recognize the style just as "the Bo Derek in Ten." I once asked to get them done, and the guy said it would take somewhere around six hours (!) I'm not sure if that is the most accurate response (he was a grumpy man, he probably wanted me out of his hair) but it is the response I received. I would ask your stylist about it, mine was just some guy at the beach in a braid shop (yes there are such things, apparently.) Best of luck, I'm sure you'll look gorgeous!

They are Cornrows and it hurts like a MF to have it done. I`m not tender headed either. It does break some of the hair, but you break hair off just brushing it daily anyway. It does take quite a long time, so you don`t want to do it if you plan on taking them out in a couple days. For washing the hair, I used very little shampoo and rinsed with a water pic so I wouldnt wreck the braids. Shells or beads are woven in as you please, during the initial "do". mostly they are used to cover the rubber band at the ends. Good luck oh yeah, it will help a little bit if you take acetamenaphin (Tylenol) about 30 minutes prior to having it done...really it stops alot of the pain signals to your brain you would otherwise be feeling ALOT of...I think they are way cool to have if your hair is thick enough and long enough and your ears arent too big good luck

Well black ppl call them cornrows, but we call actual cornrows, cornrows. White ppl don't know the difference but that's not their fault. Corn rows are attached and they are braided down the back, braids are in singles and they are free and unattached, but I call corn rows cornrows and im black and I hear it all the time. But I guess no one where you live calls them cornrows any more. But that's okay, but braids and corn rows are defiantly two different hair styles.
