Why is jizya said to mean tax when not 1 lexicon or grammarian defines it to mean tax?
Where jiyza is used in Quran 53.41, 6.93, 10.52, 27.90, 36.54, 37.39, 45.28, 46.20, 52.16, 66.7, 2.48, 2.123
all the verses here say it means to receive a reward or a recompense nevr is it used to take something from anyone?
Al-Jizyata means ;Root word jaza’a meaning to be content, to become satisfied, content and satisfied with something in lieu of something else; Jiyza…..Lanes Lexicon Arabic English Part 2 page 417-418
why is there such a gross misinterpretation of this word in this ayah but all the others say it means to be given something not to take something from the person.
The Arabic word that means Tax is dthaw’reeba / dthaw’raa’ee’bi / dthaw’raa’ee’bu ; Al-Mawrid (English) 952; Al-Mawrid (Arabic) 710; Hans Wehr Arabic – English 4th Ed. Page 631; Lanes Lexicon Arabic English Part 5 page 1782 Left Column
any ideas on what is going on here?
