How does AT&T internet work without a phone line?
Don't you need a phone line to connect the modem to make the internet connection? Tell me how it works.

Which AT&T internet? They have several forms.
AT&T Uverse works by using a pair of wires (is usually telephone line wires) to bring a fiber signal to the home. They simply don't connect a phone service to that line! They do use a "modem" supplied by them built by 2wire ( http://2wire.com/ ) it is a router/modem combination. That unit then supplies both wired and wireless ethernet connections to your computers. You can use VOIP phones for phone service or you can get the service with phone service as well. The whole system brings in TV, Internet, etc.
AT&T also has "cellular" internet which uses the "cellular" system for wireless, it works using radio waves from the cell towers.
AT&T in some places has WiMax coverage which puts an antenna at your home to connect to the wireless system at a remote location. (An expanded version of wifi!)
AT&T also has DSL service which does indeed use a phone line (although you can order it without phone service!) That is the lower cost system than any of the above.
So which AT&T service are you asking about?

hi Thomas
the other mediums used are optic fibre, coaxial cable, wireless and satellite.
so its not just a physical wire it is also a radio signal down a single wire.
as this is how mine is currently working as the line back to the exchange is is one wire disconnected.
hows that for some answers.
