    Epitaph -

Wells was sitting alone at a party and when asked what he was doing he replied he was writing his own epitaph "God damn you all, I told you so." Wells died August 13, 1946 and his ashes were cast on the sea.

On H.G. Wells' tombstone, it says "Hic depositum est, quod mortale fuit Isaaci Newtoni," which is translatable as "Here is deposited what was mortal of Isaac Newton."
