I can definitely relate. About 8 years ago, I felt like I needed to find the answers concerning why I'm here, why life exists, does God exist, etc. After doing a lot of searching on the internet and studying various religions and beliefs, I eventually found Christian Gnosticism.
What I liked about this version of Christianity was how fresh and alive it is. This is mainly because it mainly focuses on the practical aspects of how a person can gain their own experience of spirituality. I was also impressed with how it taught that blindly believing things was a dead end to getting true knowledge based upon experience; something I definitely felt and that had always made me hesitant to simply going along with what others told me about God and the spiritual.
The site I found is www.gnosticawakenings.com. They offer free courses on learning these techniques that I've used to gain incredibly profound experiences and have been building up my own wisdom based upon what I learn through those experiences. This has helped me immensely in my life; to be able to deal with tough situations, improve my relationships, and just have more confidence.
What I think you'll find refreshing is that by practicing these techniques, you'll gradually gain this different kind of intelligence that then enables you to better understand the Bible and actually every other text from any religion, since they all have at least a bit of truth in them. It's like gradually acquiring a new set of eyes and ears that lets you perceive God in everything, and in doing so, you feel the power and peace that it emanates. It's something that is actually felt, rather than just another idea or belief.
Good luck in making the right decision!
