What is your idea of perfect happiness?
-It's being happy with myself and others and feeling really good about life and what I've done. It's not having any worries or regrets.
What is your greatest fear?
-Losing my immediate family members in a horrible way.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
-My impassivity. I'm just not very emotional. I dislike this about myself because sometimes it leads me to think my feelings about some things aren't genuine simply because they don't run deep enough.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
-I most deplore unfairness, bigotry, and superficiality.
Which historical figure do you most identify with?
-I'm not sure. I remember Susan Anthony's attitude and life resonating with me, but that was a while ago.
What is your greatest extravagance?
-My nail polish collection. I'd say my first laptop but it didn't really feel like an extravagance since I'd worked so hard to get it. However, when I was a nail technician, I used to buy nail polish nearly every week. It was one of three things I enjoyed shopping for. I've amassed quite a collection and have so many colors, a rainbow would be green with envy.
What is your current state of mind?
-I've been pensive lately. I'm considering a few of my relationships and whether I want to stay or remove myself from them. I also feel like I'm taking the next step in life, and it'll be an "out with the old, in with the new" situation very soon. Regardless, I look forward to it and am excited.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
-Patience. Sometimes I feel impatience is a good thing.
What is your favorite journey?
-The one from an insecure, naive little girl to the person I am now. If you mean a physical journey, then the first time we went to Canada. I have fond memories of that trip.
On what occasion do you lie?
-Lying is usually a last resort for me, so I lie when there is no other alternative, when telling the truth is a bad thing, but I very rarely encounter a situation like that. I think there is always a way to tell the truth without it hurting someone, so I look for ways to do that.
What do you dislike about your appearance?
-I dislike how my nose looks crooked in pictures even though I know it's not. It's very annoying. Or maybe it is crooked and there's something wrong with the mirrors around here.
Which living person do you most despise?
-Some of my distant family members who have twisted views of the world, views that, if I wasn't so immune to them, would cause me to crumble and live in constant submission and self-doubt. I also despise anyone who purposefully mistreats someone, puts themselves first in every situation, and would sacrifice the world to get what they want.
Which living person do you most admire?
-It depends on my mood. Most times, it's no one. I look to myself to get things done, to figure life out, so I'm usually not in that mindset. Other times though, it's my mother.
What is your favorite color and flower?
-Green. It's beauuuuuutiful. I love sunflowers, yellow and red tulips, and white and pink orchids. Roses are great too. Oh, and calla lilies and snowdrops.
Which words or phrases do you dislike?
-I hate these new phrases and words kids come up with nowadays. (And now I sound like a grumpy old lady, but I'm promise I'm not.) I especially hate "ayer." It's a dumb word. I didn't think there was anything wrong with "air." Another word I really dislike is "busybody." I find it to be an annoying word.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
-Um...which ones don't I overuse? I overuse seriously, honestly, totally, interesting, quite, rather, since, just, and that. I also overuse "I mean," "I know," and really.
What is the quality you most like in a man?
-Self-control. I like intelligence, but I think of a guy who has intelligence but no self-control and a guy who has self-control but who isn't that smart, and I know I would enjoy being around the latter over the former. I hate when people say "boys will be boys," "a man has his needs," dumb things like that where it leads a guy to thinking it's somehow okay to be an immature, promiscuous idiot. I've been around and come across too many guys like that.
What is the quality you most like in a woman?
-Self-respect. I think this is an underrated virtue among people in general, but I put it under this question because a lot of the women in the media use and depend on their sexuality to get what they want instead of relying on hard work and intelligence. Unfortunately, there are shows made just to display the lack of self-respect some people have for themselves--and that includes both men and women.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
-If you mean romantic love, then no one. But if you mean love in general, then my youngest sister. I promised my mother the day she was born I'd take care of her, and I have kept that promise. I adore her, and she is more like a daughter than a sister to me. I'm overprotective in general with family, but extremely overprotective when it comes to her, and I can never stay mad at her. I don't like that part very much. As far as *what* is concerned, my laptop. I just got it back yesterday, and life is complete again.
When and where were you happiest?
-This may sound mean but before all of my half siblings came into the picture. I love them more than anything, but when it was just me and my two sisters, I was very happy. It was a simple life, and I love simplicity.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
-I wish I wasn't such a big fan of sleep. Really, though, I wish I could just get up and do the things I wanted to do.
If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?
-I'd make them less complicated.
Which talent would you most like to have?
-To be able to play the piano would be lovely.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
-Accepting myself and being okay with my flaws.
If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
-I think I would come back as a mountain or a sturdy tree. Something that is grounded but tall. I'm afraid of heights, so I would like to see what being up there would be like. Being stuck to the ground but also being able to see above everything, what a unique perspective that would be! As a person, I have no idea. Maybe as a dancer of some sort since I enjoy it so much.
What is your most treasured possession?
-My USB drives, which hold all of my stories in them.
Who are your heroes in real life?
-I don't really have any heroes. I know it's not the greatest answer, but...it's the truth. I've never looked at someone as my hero before. Maybe I'm just weird and a bit detached.
Who do you consider to be a genius?
-Uh...I do think some of my contacts are masquerading as everyday people in order to not be found out for the geniuses they obviously are. Maybe? But I guess I shouldn't ask, since I doubt any of you would tell me. I think Beethoven was a genius.
What is your greatest regret?
-I don't have any regrets. Not anymore. I had one, but I've finally moved on from it.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
-Self-pity and hopelessness. Having no hope and pitying yourself and being okay with that instead of doing something about it.
Where would you like to live?
-I'd love to live either in Egypt, Australia, Canada, or London because I adore those places. I've heard great things about them all and have family in half of those places. I've grown to love Egypt, London, and Australia because of books I've read, and Canada because of my visits there.
What is your favorite song?
-"Falling For You" by Colbie Caillat
"Yeh Hum Aagaye Hai Kehaan" in Veer Zaara
Both transport me to better times.
What is your favorite occupation?
-If you mean occupation as in activity, then writing. As in job, then a nail technician, because it was my first job and I learned so much from it. They also allowed you to be creative, so that was an up for me.
What is your most marked characteristic?
What do you value most in your friends?
-Loyalty and honesty. I don't like people who are easily swayed by others' opinions.
Who are your favorite writers?
-JK Rowling, Garth Nix, and Jonathan Stroud.
Who are your favorite painters and composers?
-I love John William Waterhouse and Claude Monet. My favorite composer would have to be Hans Zimmer. He's awesome.
Who are your heroines of world history?
-Susan B. Anthony.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
-John Mandrake because he sacrificed his life, even when he didn't have to and everyone thought he was arrogant and had forgotten where he'd come from.
How would you like to die?
-I would like to die confidently. And by that, I mean I would like to die when I was sure of the life I'd lived and was happy with the outcome, to be ready when I died because death doesn't present options. So...I would like to not be mad about dying when it finally comes around.
What is your motto?
-You don't have to make the mistake to learn the lesson.
This was fun.
