J. M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan. Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland.
Hans Christian Andersen wrote many great stories, some of which Walt Disney got his grubby claws in and ruined, by changing the outcome into some gay lavender express bullshit. The Little Mermaid is a case in point.
Walt Disney also utterly ruined Pinnochio, by Carlo Collodi. In the Disney version, the horrible little cricket vermin that was such anathema to Pinnochio is some friendly little chap who is basically an atheist, if you can believe that. But what can you say about some clown who sent donations to Hitler in the thirties except that he MUST have been an atheist.
Additionally, I'm sure there are several stories that were collected (not written by) Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, in the late 18th century that Disney took especial pleasure in twisting the meaning into some marketable piece of tripe. I suppose we can be thankful he didn't get his greasy meathooks on the new testament. If he did, Jesus would have probably escaped the cross and crucified Pontius Pilate and the entire Roman Senate instead, and then he would have gone off to run a vineyard or something and live happily ever after.
Hope this helps.
